Day 38

Title: For Mom

Title: Closer

These were among(st?) the first photographs taken with my new camera. Oh my god.

I never spend money. On anything. Ever. This was a big purchase for me. I don't impulse buy anything, so I've been contemplating/researching this for the better half of a year. Needless to say, finally being able to take pictures with it made me pretty extremely happy.

One of the biggest differences I noticed between my D40x and my old Cannon Powershot Poopoo is how awesome the depth of field is. I'm still learning how to shoot in Manual (I don't understand all of the buttons yet...), so these were taken with Auto and still blurred the background sufficiently. It was kind of dark out, though, so I'm pretty sure the aperture was pretty wide which helps.

Frolf with AJ and his father Brian. That was a blast. I didn't have that great of a game, but I'm honing my skills and am getting better. It's nice how quickly you can progress in that game. Brian, a semi-avid golfer, is now convinced that it's a much better game than regular golf since you don't have to carry around heavy clubs (that probably cost you thousands of dollars to begin with). How true.

In other news, my sister Diane joined Scientology and is now a Clear Thetan, and should become an Operating Thetan in a few weeks once her studies are finished. Congrats, I guess.
