Day 124

Empty Battlefield

In an attempt to get a POD, I rode my bike to Baseline Reservoir about an hour before sunset. Apparently it's pretty well barricaded against "non-members", so instead I went to PMS. There were some pretty pictures to be had there...

The main picture is my first attempt at a "fake" HDR. I steadied my camera on a fence and took two pictures: in the first the sky was well exposed (ISO 400, 1/160sec, f/9.0), and the second where the ground was well exposed (ISO 400, 1/60sec, f/9.0), then combined them in photoshop by overlapping them and masking off the underexposed ground in picture number one. With a few curves layers and some dodging to bring out ground colors (combined of course with some selective saturation), the picture turned out pretty well in my opinion.

Then I just went nuts and took a bajillion more pictures.

Today Ally and I went to see Pineapple Express with her father. When we got there, Ally called him and he told us that he was right in front of the theater. We looked and looked but we couldn't find him. The AMC village area isn't THAT big... I mean, come on.

Turns out he went to the Century Theater in Boulder. Not a big deal though, I guess, since you don't really interact much with the people that accompany you to a movie.

I decided to take the long way home and drove through the rural areas north of Louisville, kind of near where I took the picture from Day 57. Remind me to go back soon and do some photoadventuring. It's a really pretty area.

I guess I take for granted all the hard work you put into your photos. It's all appreciated though! XO
