"The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed."
Ally's always able to find book series that she likes. I've never been able to find a series that I like despite trying several times. 'The Sword of Truth' was just a little too drawn out for me, 'Twilight' was a little too juvenile for me, 'Prelude to Foundation' was notably better than 'Foundation' itself was, don't even get me started with the 'Lord of the Rings', and it's just a given that I love 'Harry Potter' since everybody in the world does. Ergo Harry doesn't count.
I'm crossing my fingers that I've found one now. The idea of reading 5000+ pages about a single character and their epic voyage is really appealing. Why is that something that I'm seeking so desperately? Hard to say. As Stephen King himself put it, it might just be an American thing: "build the tallest, dig the deepest, and write the longest."
I haven't read King since my early teens when I was a terrible reader and therefore wasn't able to absorb anything he wrote. I'm really hoping that I still like him and that this series works out for me. So far I've only read the 20 pages of foreword and introduction (in which he mentions his getting hit by a car no less than a dozen times), and I really like his voice. I just hope his narrative is just as rich yet pleasantly conversational.
And then there was nothing.

your side picture- if you use your imagination- looks like the swirl of a hurricane with the bright spot being the eye.
