I picked Shannon up for his first day training as a server. It felt like it was the first day of school. I farted a lot.
After making no money, training Shannon to do just about nothing, and then leaving work, I decided that I had to take some pictures. The CU game had 13 minutes left in the 4th quarter, so I jumped on my bike and rode to campus. I parked on the South side of Duane and thought maybe I'd try to take pictures from the top of the Gamow tower. It turns out that Duane is actually used as a mini-PD during the games, and only 'authorized personnel' are allowed in.
I settled on setting up across the street from the stadium. I figured that I could maybe get a timelapse of people streaming out once the game ended. I didn't want to be in everybody's way, so I kind of tucked myself behind some newspaper racks in some trees. I sat on The Onion for a few minutes after setting up my camera, waiting for the game to end before I started shooting.
Then a cop came up to me.
COP: "What're you doing?"
ME: "Just trying to take some pictures. Is that okay to do from here?"
COP: "Get off of that newspaper rack."
ME: Got off newspaper rack.
At this point, two cops on bikes had approached from the opposite direction, and a third rolled up and stayed a good 10 yards away from this circle closing around me. One of the bike cops then started asking more questions. I had to explain to him that I was taking pictures, explained the concept of my timelapse, and told him that it was just for fun, not a class. He asked to look in my bag, and having nothing to hide, I went ahead and opened it up for him. After some prodding at my extra lens and albuteral inhaler, he seemed satisfied that I wasn't going to blow anything up.
COP #2 to COP #4: "We're good. He's just taking pictures."
COP #4 into walky-talky: "Just taking pictures. Everything's okay."
After meeting up with Diane and taking loads of pictures, as I was just about ready to call it a day and start packing up, I heard someone shout "Yo Mike, I thought that was you."
It was David, a friend of mine from high school that I run into a bunch at the Cafe. He works as a Jr. Detective Police Deputy or some shit (he's a student that works with the Sheriffs), and he had been staked out at the top of the Duane tower (where I had originally wanted to shoot from) at the PD's dispatch center. He was the person that spotted me (not knowing it was me at the time) and dispatched the cops to figure out what I was doing. Apparently he had "seen something hidden in the tree" (my camera) and thought it should be checked out. He dispatched a single cop, and all of a sudden he heard "bike team on route!" and several other teams respond to the call. He said that something like 5-7 officers were actually watching the whole thing happen.
Then he told me that next time I want to take pictures of the game, I should just give him a call because he has keys to the Duane rooftop and would be glad to let me up. We just would have to get a simple pre-approval from the higher-ups first.
I might just have to do that.

And now, the most underrated Linkin Park single. It came out right after the huge successes of 'One Step Closer' and the Grammy winning 'Crawling', and was quickly overshadowed by their biggest hit to date, 'In The End'. I'm not saying this song is as good as these others, but I still think it could have gotten slightly more recognition.

I believe David (Haukness...I assume) Is Senior CSA (Community Service Aid)
That's what I said, Mark.
Jr. Detective = Sr. CSA
That's pretty funny dude. For sure take him up on that offer! That's a sweet hook up.
Remember that time that woman at Target wouldn't let you take a picture because of homeland security? Yeah, that was not cool.
