Title: Explosions in the Sky
Ally and I went to the new coffee shop up the street from our house. It's actually really nice, and it's cool having one so close now. Before, the closest was more than a mile away, and this one is a 5 minute walk / 1 minute bike ride. I've always wanted to be a regular somewhere, but I can't see myself being one at a bar (that would imply something bad about my drinking habits) or a restaurant (too much money). This place might finally satisfy my desire. Perhaps it will be my Boulder counterpart to the coffee shop tucked away in an obscure corner of the UNSW campus that I always went to to get my ham and cheese croissant and a flat white, then sat and read The Godfather (highly recommend) or the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy trilogy (not so good) or Tallulahland (terrible).
Then 9 hours of work. For most people, 9 hours of work involves answering a lot of phone calls, entering data into their computers, filling out paperwork, or other tediously boring tasks. It also involves a lot of sitting. Today I realized that I get payed to walk. Restaurants would save themselves so much money if they didn't have to employ servers and the customers just walked to the kitchen and told them what they wanted, then walked back once their food was ready. I do the walking for them. People are willing to pay me significant amount of money so that they don't have to walk. Sure they're paying for their food, but that cost is covered in the bill.
Sometimes I get so angry when people have a $50 check, and end up leaving me $4 (like one Douchebaggy McDourchertons guy did tonight). But when I stop and think about it, I did very little for that table on the whole, and 4 bucks isn't a tiny amount of money. I could have payed for Ally's drink this morning at the coffee shop with that if she hadn't gotten for free to begin with. Sure most people would have given more than double what that guy did, but if everybody I met gave me $4, I'd be a $4 millionaire.
On another note, I have enough fireworks pictures to fill my entire flickr quota for the month, then a pro-account's quota, then all of Gmail's ever expanding space for the next half a decade...
Alright, I only have like 60 pictures, but whatever. I had a hard time deciding between a bunch of them, then I realized that it doesn't matter if I post a ton. You'll look at them if you want to, you'll like them or you won't, and I won't care if you do or don't because I do and I had fun taking them.
The only thing that wasn't fun was the electrical pole right in the center of my view. I decided to ignore it since every time I would try to avoid getting it in the frame, I would crop out the fireworks. They were literally going off right behind the post. Whatever.
I have chosen not to photoshop any of the fireworks pictures.
And then there was nothing.

coffee is the cheapest place to be regular. for a mere dollar and fifty cents, you can sit there for fucking hours! the next cheapest place to spend time that isn't your house is a park and or random curb.
Remember Round the Corner? You called on a red phone to place an order, and I think (though I'm not quite sure) that you go up to the window when they call you back saying that your order is ready. All the walking is done by the customer.
I wish I could take photos of fireworks that don't look like crap. I watched the fireworks in Crested Butte with Mt. Crested Butte right behind where they were lighting them off....spectacular backdrop. You and Ally will have to come over so I can show you all the stuff I did! Love ya!
Hi Michael-
I ran across this web site that might come in handy for you and your over analytical mind.

Love the fireworks and Hannah's "wheat field."
Thanks for the fireworks display. Since I was too sick to even be aware that it was the 4th of July, it was a nice surprise to see what I missed. The "wheat fields" are glorious! Love you!
